We explore how to integrate technology into urban agriculture.

The Food Commons District looks at how to feed cities using sustainable and community-based food systems.

We’ll showcase some digital tools and fun ideas for growing and managing food in cities, and also show how distributed food production, transformation, distribution, and recycling can be a major force to make cities more sustainable and socially inclusive.

The Food Commons District includes

  • A global Summer School exploring the topic of productive cities and distributed food system, open to architect, designers, makers and organised by IaaC – Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and Design by Data Advanced Master Program at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech (2-13 july 2018, applications open). During the summer school, a mixed group of tutors, experts, and students coming from all over the world will be experimenting with robots and digital technologies applied to urban agriculture.
  • An edible prairie to experiment the synecoculture approach of farming.
  • A focus on beer brewing as an example of possible circular economies.
  • A map of the citizen-driven projects on food in the Paris Metropolitan area.
  • Agenda of workshops and exhibition for citizens, tourists and curious during the whole campus (14th to 22nd of July)
